November is here and trout season is near! Time to polish up the fly rod and stock up on some flies and new line. Scattered showers this week with the highs in the low 80s and the lows at 60. Water temps are slowly dropping.

The Guadalupe River is still low with flows at 64.6CFS and the water temperature at 64 degrees. There’s lots of holdovers this year, but they can be picky. Natural flies seem to be the key for success size 16-18 Pheasant tail fallowed by a 18-20 olive RS2 will help land these big boys! The trout are holding at the bottom be sure to add some weight on to get those flies down low.

Canyon Lake has closed all the boat ramps, time to bust out the kayaks. Water temps are 75 degrees. Stripers can be seen schooling in the mornings. Bass are held up on points and the grass edges. Top water flies are effective in the mornings then switching to streamers during the day. As the temperatures get cooler the bass will be coming to the top.

San Marcos River low with flows at 86.7CFS and 72 degrees. The bass are still very active, top water flies like the Sam’s one bug is successful. Small bait fish patterns and mop flies will land fish in the net.
